Sempatico M...
Sempatico M needs no introduction. Sempatico M was imported from Germany where he finished his testing for lifetime approval. DNA tested HOMOZYGOUS-100% color guaranteed, which makes him one of only a very small, elite handful fully licensed for Warmblood breeding and pedigreed homozygous Warmblood stallions in the world!
As a foal Sempatico was the Bundeschampionat" National Champion ZfDP. He is by the Oldenburg approved pinto stallion Semper, who is by Sandro, the Holsteiner stallion who is also the sire of Sandro Hit, Sandro Song and has a total of 36 approved sons, 308 approved mares, 27 states premium mares. Semper's dam Imago is an Elite Preferent rated KWPN mare, by Samber the world's most influential and successful pinto Warmblood of all time . Sempatico's dam line is also impressive, VPrSt Indian Dream, is a Verband Premium mare who is by the Dutch stallion Ico who is by the Keur Preferent rated by the KWPN, Trakehner Marco Polo. VPrSt Indian Dream is out of Sabrina, a Westphalian mare.
Sempatico has completed both his 30 day test & 70 day test at Prussendorf finishing 5th out of 18, 3rd in dressage index and 8th in jumping index. Final score: 7.81 Also at the announcements of his scores Frank Bangert the head director of Prussendorf State Stud said "Sempatico is the best colored horse he has ever seen" and congratulated his breeder Mr. Michel on such a nice horse. In his 70 day testing, Sempatico finished 6th in dressage with a great score of 121.25 points! He placed 11th of all 30 stallions in this testing with a total score of 106.67.
Anita Heuser, the Thuringian Vice Master of Dressage, had Sempatico in training. She stated that he is not only wonderful to watch but equally wonderful to ride. Sempatico started out in the USA at Willowlake Farm being ridden and trained by Carol Lawrence over the winter. Everyone at Willowlake had rave reviews for Sempatico, they loved his temperament and Carol loved how wonderful he was under saddle.
Sempatico's first show in the US was Dressage at Devon, with little preparation (due to a tornado we had here and Sempatico's heavy breeding schedule earlier in the season) Sempatico shined; placing in the top 4 in every class and winning all of his IBC classes. With limited showing due to an extremely busy breeding schedule, Sempatico qualified for the 2006 USDF championships at his first show.
Sempatico's first foal crop in Germany had 2 inspection Champions out of a very small foal crop. The first US foal crops have received numerous premium ratings and several championships at their various warmblood inspections.
Kirkendahl
Menifee X Gone West X Graustark
2002-Present
Sire of our mare CVL Baby Dahl sold through our Chateau Vista Show Jumpers Program
Kirkendahl...
Bred by Dream Walkin' Farms Inc in Kentucky, Kirkendahl is the only stallion standing in the United States by the stallion Menifee. He is currently owned and was campaigned in racing by the country singer Toby Keith. Won his first two starts before running 3RD San Vicente Stakes, 5TH San Rafael Stakes. Career Statistics:13 Starts,2 wins & 2 thirds. Kirkendahl stands at stud at P&S Thoroughbreds in Iowa. Kirkendahl's sire was the great Menifee who was 11-5-4-1, $1,732,000. Won: Haskell Invitational Handicap-G1, Toyota Blue Grass Stakes-G1. Was 2nd: Kentucky Derby-G1, Preakness Stakes-G1, Super Derby-G1, Tampa Bay Derby, 3rd: Travers Stakes-G1
8th: Belmont Stakes-G1. With his Breeder: Arthur Hancock (KY)
he was foaled May 4, 1996 and stood at stud in 2000 at Stone Farm KY ($15,000) In Oct. 2006: Sold to Korea Racing Assn - stood at Jeju Stud Farm he was the Leading Sire in S.Korea 2012-2017 and sired 6 winners of the Korean Derby. Menifee died of an apparent heart attack at age 23 on June 13, 2019.
Kirkendahl's second sire is the great sire Gone West. Gone West is one of Mr. Prospector’s best looking sons, a grade one stakes winner, and was a very successful sire. His dam is Secrettame, a daughter of the immortal Secretariat and Tamerett. Tamerett, by champion Tim Tam, is a foundation mare who is the ancestress of not only Gone West, but also Tentam, Known Fact, Terete, A.P.Jet, Tappiano, and Lord Cavern, full brother to Gone West. Tamerett is a direct female line descendant (fourth generation) of influential broodmare Aloe. \
Bred by Dr. William O Reed, Gone West was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. James Mills, who raced under the banner of the Hickory Tree Stable, for $1.9 Million at the Keeneland summer yearling sales in 1985. He proved the big price to be money well spent and an eventual bargain. Trained by the legendary Woody Stephens, Gone West was a winner as a two year old. Stephens was impressed with the colt and prepared him for the upcoming three year old classic season. The three year old crop that year was a very deep line-up that included Gulch, Capote, Bet Twice, Polish Navy, Java Gold, Alysheba and Leo Castelli. Gone West won a pair of allowance races in Florida and then ran second in the grade three Hutchison Stakes and third in the grade two Fountain of Youth Stakes. Shipped back to New York, Gone West captured the grade two Gotham Stakes over Gulch and Capote, but Gulch returned the favour in the grade one Wood Memorial beating Gone West by a head.
Gone West skipped the Derby and Preakness and stayed in New York where he won the grade two Withers Stakes and finished second to Leo Castelli in the Peter Pan. Gone West entered in the Belmont but could only manage a sixth placing to Bet Twice. This race confirmed his distance limitations. The dark bay son of Mr. Prospector regained his winning ways in the grade one Dwyer Stakes with a resounding twelve and one half lengths victory in the nine furlong event. His subsequent races in the Whitney, Woodward and Vosburgh completed his racing career with unplaced finishes. Gone West was then retired from the track and took up residence at Mill Ridge Farm in Kentucky to begin what would turn out to be a highly successful stud career. Since Gone West had displayed good miler speed, plus the fact that his pedigree was first class, he was highly regarded by many top breeders in Kentucky. Breeder were right in their assessment as Gone West sired one-thousand two-hundred and sixty-three named foals, of which one-hundred and one became stakes winners by the time he completed his stud career. His hall mark on his get was blinding miler speed. Furthermore he became a very consistent sire of sires with many of his sons carrying on the tail male line. He has been one of the most successful sire of sires in recent memory.
Gladiator d ' Avalon

2016-Present
Sire of our 2023 colt CVL Geralt d'Avalon out of the reference dam Galoubelle d'Avalon.
Gladiator d'Avalon...
Bred by Avalon Equine, from the breeder: Avalon Equine is excited to present a new addition to our stallion line up! Gladiator is by Goldmaker, our cremello TB stallion and out of Paso Doble (Voltaire x Kimberley H/Burggraaf). Gladiator was presented this fall to the Westfalen Verband for his provisional licensing and received the nod to attend the 2020 stallion testing.
Gladiator was purpose bred for Rebecca Steggers of RB Riding for an eventing career. Rebecca piloted our German Riding Pony stallion, Belafonte d'Avalon in his eventing career, as well as a few dressage and jumper shows along the way. We couldn't be more pleased with this partnership and look forward to big things with this team in the future!
We will be offering a limited number of breedings with frozen semen while Gladiator begins his performance career and prepares with Rebecca for his stallion performance test in 2020! Stay tuned for new photos, videos and news as they start their training and competition career together.
Gladiator is by the Double dilute stallion Goldmaker.
Goldmaker successfully completed his 70 day Stallion Performance test on November 12th, 2011, making him the ONLY cremello Thoroughbred stallion in North America to be fully licensed and approved with a warmblood registry..
Throughout the 70 Day Stallion Test, Goldmaker proved himself to be enthusiastic and talented over fences, demonstrating beautiful bascule and lovely form. He received high marks for his rideability, character and temperament. He wowed ALL of the judges at the testing - both registry inspectors and testing judges - with his exceptional cross country ability. With a balanced, cadenced canter, a good trot, extraordinary jump and willing, forward temperament, he is a unique and colorful option for breeders. He should make some exceptional hunter prospects as well as some talented eventers with the added bonus of the unusual coloring.
Goldmaker's unusual cremello coloring guarantees mare owners that their foals out of bay, chestnut or black mares will be buckskin, palomino or smoky blacks - a bonus to go with his exceptional conformation, temperament and athletic talent.

Nobiz Like Shobiz

Sire of the alumni CVL Odes of Pindar sold

Nobiz Like Shobiz...
From the Old Friends site about Nobiz Like Shobiz: Nobiz Like Shobiz has definitely lived up to his name. As handsome as he is talented, this son of Albert the Great knows how to wow ’em. Racing as a homebred for Elizabeth Jones Valando, he won his first start so nicely that trainer Barclay Tagg entered him next in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes. Despite traffic, he ran second to no less than Scat Daddy. Cornelio Velasquez rode again to close out his juvenile year with a win the Remsen Stakes (G2). His three year old campaign began on the 2007 Kentucky Derby trail. He won the Holy Bull Stakes (G3), finished third in the Fountain of Youth (G2), and won the Wood Memorial (G1), all with Velasquez up. Though not the winner on Derby day, Nobiz Like Shobiz returned from a rest for a strong second in the Dwyer (G2), won the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (G1), the Kent Breeders’ Cup (G3) and the Jamaica Handicap (G2). He retired with 7 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third from 13 starts with $1,544,730 career earnings. In 2008 he entered stud at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky, siring 194 foals including 7 black type winners. Old Friends was privileged to welcome Nobiz Like Shobiz to our Georgetown location in October 2016.
Nobiz Like Shobiz (born January 29, 2004) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse, who during his three-year-old season was considered a top contender for the 2007 U.S. Triple Crown series of races. Though he did not place in the Kentucky Derby, Nobiz added to his stakes winnings by making a successful conversion to turf racing after the Derby.
The horse was given the name Nobiz Like Shobiz by his show business owner Elizabeth J. Valando whose late husband Tommy Valando was a Broadway theatre producer and owner of an important music publishing business. She and her husband owned Fly So Free, the 1990 U.S. Champion Two-Year-Old who won that year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile.
Nobiz Like Shobiz was sired by multiple Graded stakes race winner, Albert the Great, a son of the 1994 Kentucky Derby winner, Go for Gin. His damsire is Storm Cat, who was the stallion with the highest breeding fee in North America. Trained by Barclay Tagg who notably trained Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Funny Cide, Nobiz Like Shobiz was an awkward colt who did not start his racing career until late in his two-year-old season. Tagg said of his first sight of the colt on a Florida farm, "Before he jogged three steps, I called Elizabeth Valando and said, 'This is the most gorgeous horse I've ever seen. If he's not a Triple Crown candidate, they've never made one.
Nobiz Like Shobiz made his racing debut in early September 2006 at Belmont Park, it was an impressive one. Racing at a distance of a full mile, he won by 10¾ lengths. Owner Elizabeth J Valando was then offered $17 million for the colt by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. She turned it down.[1] Nobiz Like Shobiz competed for the second time in mid October in the important Champagne Stakes against two-year-olds, many of whom had more racing experience. Nobiz Like Shobiz finished second by ¾ of a length to Scat Daddy who overtook him in the homestretch. Although he had run a solid race, his trainer chose to skip the November 4th $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile, preferring to allow the colt to mature more while continuing his training. As such, his next outing, and last of 2006, was in the Grade-2 $200,000 US Remsen Stakes where he won by an impressive 6½-lengths. He earned a very respectable Beyer Speed Figure of 97 and his time of (1:48.82) was the fastest Remsen at the distance since 1977, when Believe It won in (1:47.80).[2] Nobiz Like Shobiz was wintered in Barn 16 at Gulfstream Park in Florida along with Funny Cide.
Barclay Tagg had indicated for 2007 he would enter Nobiz Like Shobiz into three prep races—all at 1⅛ mile—before the Kentucky Derby. The first would be the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes on February 3. Going off as the favorite, Nobiz Like Shobiz outran his rival Scat Daddy and won going away by one and one/half lengths. In the March 3rd Fountain of Youth Stakes he lugged in during the stretch and finished third. Equipped with blinkers, he held off a late rally from longshot Sightseeing to win the G1 Wood Memorial Stakes by 1/2 length as the 7/10 favorite. Second choice Any Given Saturday (3/2 odds) was 3¾ lengths behind the winner in third.
Nobiz Like Shobiz had a seemingly perfect trip in the 2007 Kentucky Derby, stalking the pace in 4th into the stretch. As he angled to the outside for his stretch run under jockey Cornelio Velásquez, the pace of the race picked up dramatically and Nobiz Like Shobiz failed to generate a late run, finishing 10th in the full field of 20. In his next race, July 4, he finished a well-beaten second to Any Given Saturday in the Grade II Dwyer Stakes.
After that defeat, and because Nobiz was running down on dirt (burning his heels and ankles on the rough surface), trainer Barclay Tagg began training him for grass racing. On August 6, 2007, Nobiz won his first start on turf: the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes under Cornelio Velazquez. On September 1, he won again on turf in the Grade III Kent Breeders' Cup Stakes at Delaware Park Racetrack. The following October he captured his third straight turf race by winning the Grade II Jamaica Handicap. He was entered in the Breeders Cup (Turf) Mile on October 27 and briefly seemed poised to make a strong move but managed only to finish fourth on a rain-softened turf course. In the late-November Hollywood Derby, he was unable to catch front-running Daytona and again finished out of the money. As of October 2007, Nobiz Like Shobiz has won seven races in thirteen starts. He has finished out of the money three times: in the 2007 Kentucky Derby (tenth), the 2007 Breeders Cup (Turf) Mile (fourth) and the 2007 Hollywood Derby (sixth). His total career earnings are just over $1,500,000 US.
On May 25, 2008, Barclay Tagg announced that Nobiz Like Shobiz would retire. Tagg felt that certain ailments were bound to keep the horse from achieving his best at the track.
Nobiz Like Shobiz stood at stud for $7500 at Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky for the 2009 breeding season. For the 2010 breeding season, his fee was dropped to $2500. The first reported foal by Nobiz Like Shobiz was a filly out of stakes-winning mare Rachele'sprincess (by Summing). The filly, born January 27 at Haymarket Farm in Kentucky, is half-sister to stakes winner Gabrieles Princess and stakes-placed Lil Joes Luckycent.

Zavata...
Multiple graded stakes winner Zavata will stand the 2009 breeding season at Dr. William J. Solomon's Pin Oak Lane Farm near New Freedom, Pa. His stud fee will be announced later. His record includes 13-5-1-1, $346,533. Won: Saratoga Special S.-G2, Amsterdam S.-G2, Tremont S.-G3 A $575,000 Fasig-Tipton Florida February 2-year-old, Zavata was one of the top juvenile sprinters of 2002. He won the Saratoga Special (gr. II) and Tremont (gr. III) Stakes by a combined 13 1/2 lengths and placed in the Hopeful (gr. I) and Three Chimneys Juvenile Stakes. At 3, he took the six-furlong Amsterdam Stakes (gr. II) in 1:08.64.
In 2007, Zavata (Phone Trick--Pert Lady, by Cox’s Ridge) was a leading freshman sire by number of 2-year-old winners, with 14. He is the sire of 2008 stakes-placed runners Dakota Phone and Secret Talent, plus last year’s stakes-placed performer Almendrado. His progeny earnings total $1 million. Grade I winner Dixie Union appears under his third dam. Zavata formerly stood at John T.L. Jones III's Walmac Farm near Lexington. From Bloodhorse:
A year ago, Zavata was the unquestioned leader in the 2-year-old division. Zavata romped to lopsided wins in Belmont's Tremont (gr. III) and the Saratoga Special (gr. II). His dominance, however, only lasted a few months. The Zavata bandwagon began to lose steam in late August at Saratoga when the colt finished third behind Travers candidate Sky Mesa in the Hopeful (gr. I) at odds of 1-5. Eight weeks later, Zavata made the final start of his 2-year-old season in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and was pulled up on the backstretch. After that disappointment, Zavata made his 3-year-old debut seven later and finished fifth in a money allowance contested over a sloppy track at Belmont. "We had decided to bring him back over the summer," trainer Patrick Biancone said. "I want a fresh horse for the Breeders' Cup Sprint.
Hoping to find a soft spot to get Zavata a win and to regain some confidence, Biancone shipped the Phone Trick colt to Monmouth Park for an optional claimer. Zavata won by a hard-fought length, completing the six-furlong race in 1:08 4/5. It was a sign of good things to come.
On August 2, Zavata returned to Saratoga and crushed a good field that included King's Bishop rivals Posse, Scrimshaw and Great Notion in the Amsterdam (gr. II). Now the colt goes for the first grade I win of his career. In order to accomplish that on Saturday, Zavata will have to stretch his speed and finishing punch to seven furlongs for the first time since finishing third in last summer's Hopeful at 1-5.
"He won by 5 ½ lengths and they've got another furlong to make up that ground," Biancone said. "Seven furlongs is a question mark. I don't think there are too many horses that can beat him at six. He was all by himself as a 2-year-old because he was better than everybody else. Now he's a top sprinter."
Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey, a two-time winner of the King's Bishop, has the mount. Trainer Steve Asmussen has made the most of his time in the Adirondacks this summer, winning the Test (gr. I) with Lady Take and Saratoga Special (gr. II) with Cuvee. Asmussen goes for his third stakes win of the meet with Posse, one of the leading 3-year-old sprinters in the nation.
Zavata regained some old glory in the Amsterdam while an aura of invincibility surrounding Posse vanished. The Amsterdam's even-money favorite after three resolute stakes victories this spring, Posse was never a factor before checking in fourth, six lengths behind Zavata. On Saturday, Posse returns to the distance of his Riva Ridge (gr. II) victory on Belmont Stakes Day with the hopes of turning the tables on Zavata. "The Amsterdam will be a nice prep," said Asmussen's New York assistant, Scott Blasi. "He kicked pretty hard, but that was a track that was tough to make up ground on."

Broken Vow is by the stallion Unbridled. Unbridled (March 5, 1987 – October 18, 2001) was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1990 Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup Classic. He retired with a career record of eight wins, six places, and six shows in 24 starts, and $4,489,475 in career earnings. Unbridled had a rivalry with Summer Squall over their three and four-year-old seasons. Summer Squall defeated Unbridled in four of their six meetings.
In 1987, Trainer Tony Barnard was given charge of and broke Unbridled, at Tartan Farms, in Ocala, Florida.[4][5] In 1989, at age two, Unbridled won the What A Pleasure Stakes and placed in all six of his starts. At age three, ridden by jockey Pat Day, he won the Grade I Florida Derby by four lengths, then finished second behind Summer Squall in the Blue Grass Stakes. He then won America's most prestigious race, the Kentucky Derby, by 3½ lengths with jockey Craig Perret, while Summer Squall finishing second. He finished second in the Preakness Stakes to Summer Squall, and finished fourth without Lasix in the Belmont Stakes to the Irish colt Go And Go. In the fall, ridden by Day, Unbridled won the 1¼ mile Breeders' Cup Classic at Belmont Park in 2:02.20 minutes. His performances for the year earned him the prestigious Eclipse Award as champion three-year-old male of 1990.
When Unbridled won the Derby, a network television camera in the Churchill Downs stands captured his trainer, Carl Nafzger, giving the horse's elderly owner, Frances Genter, a stretch call because of her poor vision. Nafzger shouted, "He's going to win! He's going to win! Oh, Mrs. Genter, I love you!"
Racing as a four-year-old, Unbridled won the Deputy Minister Handicap at Gulfstream Park and placed second behind Summer Squall in the Fayette Handicap at Keeneland Race Course. Unbridled lost four of six meetings with rival Summer Squall.
