Carrasca Z...

Carrasca Z (Asca Z x Calato) bred by Hyperion Stud in Virginia is a Mr. GQ of stallions with a personality to match. He is a true gentleman. Hank as he is affectionately known garners the love of everyone who meets him. He loves his sport and will jump anything in front of him. Recently started under saddle it has been remarkable how well balanced, and adjustable he is. Carrasca was recently approved as a stallion by the BWP where he earned one of the highest free jumping scores to date in the BWP Registry and a note that he will be a stallion to watch for in the international ring one day.

Sire Asca Z (Askari x Carthago) is quickly becoming a household name in the world of Showjumping. A relatively young stallion he has plenty of accolades to his name. Just recently this year he was on the winning Belgium Nations Cup Team at Spruce Meadows and has had several top placings in 5* Grand Prixs under Christian Ahlmann. Asca was one of the top stallions the year he was approved in Holstein before being purchased by Zangersheide. He is the product of carefully thought out breeding. His dam is the product of top-class sires, without exception, successively Carthago, Caletto II, Ladykiller xx and Raimond. Sire, Askari has already sired several other international winners such as Aragon and Asca is no different. His eldest offspring are young still with the oldest being 6 years old, but they are quickly becoming sought after in the sport world. Asca is known for passing on much of his positive qualities to his offspring.

Dam Carraleena (Calato x Cantus) possesses a pedigree bred to jump. Approved as a premium mare in the Holsteiner Stud Book she throws top quality offspring. Sire Calato, is a direct descendent of Capitol I and has performed at the international level himself with top results. He is best known as the sire of Olympic champion Coster along with countless other top performing horses. Carraleena’s dam line (Cantus x Landgraf) is no less remarkable as the producers of top showjumpers. Cantus died early before he could reach his peak; however, he left his legacy in his winning offspring. Particulary Calvaro the Olympic medalist under Willi Melliger. Landgraf is one of the most well known foundation sires of Holsteiner often reffered to as “one of the two great jewels in the crown of modern Holstein breeding.”

Accomplishments include: Winner of 2016 East Coast 6 Year Old Championships (Winner of Overall Best Young Jumper Style Award), Qualified for Lanaken World Championships for Young Horses 2015 & 2016, First American Bred Stallion Approved by Zangersheide, Winner at Devon Horse Show, WEF 2016, and Silver Oak Jumper Tournament (6-Year-Olds), Only Horse to ever receive a Perfect 10 in the YHS Free Jumping Division at Finals 2014. Apiro...

Apiro is a son of the legendary Argentinus, who for an amazing seven years led the FN statistics of his age group for the prize money earned by his progeny with offspring competing at the international levels in both dressage and jumping. Argentinus was Stallion of the year in 2005! A successful advanced level showjumper himself, Argentinus sired 28 approved sons, 48 State Premium mares, and became Germany's youngest millionaire based on money won by his progeny. He was renowned for passing on his willing temperament to his offspring. His sire, Argentan I, produced 19 approved sons and 119 State Premium mares and was highly regarded as a broodmare sire. From Absatz, the type and unmistakable face of his sire, Abglanz, is stamped generation after generation.

From Argentinus' damsire, Duden II, comes the dynamic movements and impulsion of Duellant. Apiro's dam, the State Premium mare Pyrah H, is a strong producer of sporthorses including the showjumpers Perle, Pandora, and Power Girl, Rocci Balboa who has been successful in the young dressage horse classes, and the State Premium mare, Airline. She also produced the approved stallion, River Phonix, who won the Bavarian Championships and placed in the Bundeschampionat. Pyrah H is by the exceptional jumper sire, Pilot, who was the first showjumping stallion with progeny to earn one million deutschmarks. His second dam, Ceda H, is by the Cyklon son, Cyrus. The Hanoverian-based Trakehner, Cyklon, established a good jumper line and was a superior sporthorse sire.
Apiro's offspring are already having success in the hunter and jumper rings. He is producing talented, amateur friendly horses and is greatly improving scope in gaits and jump. Apiro was Top 3 Hunter Breeding Sire in 2011 and 2013. Apiro has excellent conception rates with both fresh and frozen semen. He is EVA negative and vaccinated yearly. He has been presented to and approved for breeding with AHS, GOV, ISR/Old NA, RPSI, and sBs. He is eligible to sire registered foals with CWHBA, KWPN, and Westphalin. He currently stands stud at Avalon Equine in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.

ES Toronto...

Toronto, an Elite Stallion with the Hanoverian Verband, is a Dutch stallion acquired by the Celle State Stud to further the jumping talent of the breeding program. His performance test single score in jumping was 9.3. This powerful bay stallion descends from the jumping horse producer “Now or Never M,” who is stationed in Holland. Toronto's grandsire is the prepotent Voltaire, a consistent sire of international jumpers with temperaments of gold. The damline is also very interesting - Toronto's damsire is Belisar by Saros xx, who is a full brother to Swazi xx, the sire of the Trakehner stallion Consul.
The scope and athleticism of Toronto can certainly be attributed to his sire, the Voltaire son Now or Never M. Voltaire looks back on a long lasting career in international show jumping ridden by Jos Lansink. He was among the top jumping horses at shows in Calgary, Stockholm, Lanaken, Helsinki, Wiesbaden and at Olympia in London. Voltaire obviously passed on his characteristic ability to perform to his offspring both in dressage and jumping. He is descended from the legendary Furioso II who like none before him influenced Germany's horse populations by producing offspring with enormous versatility and various purposes.
Now or Never M has many approved sons to his credit and is well on his way to establishing his own line in Hanoverian breeding. Now or Never M was champion in 's-Hertogenbosch in 1998. He was a stallion of great presence. He won the finals in the IAN trophy in the KWPN competition in the year 2000. In 2001, Now or Never M gained 7th place. He was one of the 12 selected KWPN horses for the World Championships at Lanaken in 2001 and he won first place in the Stallion Competition 2000/2001 in Giesbeek. Now or Never M has proven himself as a sire by producing a multitude of uniform foals with very good riding type, good quality and outstanding presence. They are known for having wonderful movement, good minds and exceptional jumping ability.  Now or Never M currently has a very high breeding value of 152 points for jumping on the German FN’s ranking system and has shown to consistently improve the canter.
Toronto's dam is by Belisar, a Saros xx son.  Saros comes from a strong line of successful steeplechasers, race winners, and sport horses. The infusion of Thoroughbred blood is essential in warmblood breeding and this particular line has had an excellent influence which can also be seen through the Trakehner stallion Consul. The Now or Never M nick with Beilsar/Saros xx daughters has proven to be an undeniably successful cross producing the approved stallions Valentino, Winston Uccello, Alchimist and Vallado, in addition to Toronto.
Toronto gained the following scores at his performance test; character 8, temperament 8, willingness to perform 8, conformation 8, trot 6.33, canter 8 walk 7.67, natural jumping ability 9, free jumping 8,83, jumping manner 9, jumping technique 8.67, cross country 10. He won the jumping phase of the test which could be expected because of his outstanding pedigree. Among his offspring produced to date, he has one licensed son, 5 state premium mares, 15 auction horses.

Striking Blondie displays her willing attitude and type with total athleticism and blood just like her sire, Chief Three Sox. Being an all-around mare, "Vienna" has been in all three rings and has tri-colors regionally in hunters, jumpers, and equitation with many riders. Striking Blondie has her fathers ways that of a blood type sport horse which adds to the enhancement of future generations of sport jumping stock. Wonderful, by Weltmeyer out of SPS Bonny/Bolero, owned by Violet Jen of Wonderful Sport Horses, Sunnyvale, Calif., and bred by Heinrich Ehlers, Ger. The German FN ranked Wonderful as the number one young sire in 2000 based on the FN competition statistics achieved by his 44 competition offspring. He also sired six States Premium mares, two German mare show Grand Champions, one U.S. Elite Mare and six Verden auction horses. All of these records were accomplished with a crop of 99 foals that he sired before he was purchased for sport. Wonderful achieved scores up to 85% at M-Level dressage, and had learned all FEI movements by the age of eight.

Wonderful has 51 foals registered with the American Hanoverian Society (AHS), and six AHS Main Studbook mares, including one Elite Mare. He was also approved by the ISR/Oldenburg N.A., GOV and Westfalen registries.

Wonderful was purchased in 1995 for sport and imported to the US in 1997.  However, in 2000, German FN ranked Wonderful the #1 dressage sire in the younger stallion category based on his offspring's show records in Germany. He achieved the impressive dressage breed index of 156.

Wonderful was Reserve champion of the stallion licensing at Verden, Germany out of 100 stallions in 1991. The Hanoverian State Stud Stallion Book describes him being with excellent conformation, striking nobility, a very good type and expression. He is bred out of a good dam line and has passed on his excellent dressage talent. He started competing at M level (3rd - 4th level) dressage in 1996 and has been winning with scores of 80 - 85%. At age of only 7, he started schooling all Grand Prix movements. (The video was taken when he was only 8.)

Wonderful served at the State Stud for three years. Many of his foals won at breed shows in Germany. In 1996, a 2-year-old filly was the champion of her class and the Grand Champion at Bargstedt Mare Show. Again, in 1997 the Bargstedt mare show champion was a mare by Wonderful.

In June, 1997, three 3-year-old filles by Wonderful were awarded States Premiums at Bargstedt mare show. Also in the United States, the inspection overall champion mare, and one of the only three Hanoverian mares that scored 8 or above at the 1997 AHS inspection tour was a black filly, Wondergirl by Wonderful. In 1999, Wondergirl went on to win her mare performance test with an overall score of 8.33 and an incredible ridability score of 9!

His first US foal crop arrived in 1999. They span from Rhode Island, Virginia, Florida, Canada, all the way to Hawaii. Among his US foals, we have inspection and breed show champions, impressive stallion candidates, and several foals were successfully sold before they were weaned with prices as high as $12,000. Wonderful's other imported offspring have also been observed to be successfully marketed at $40,000 to $50,000.

He has been a sire and grandsire to several horses participated in the prestigious Elite auctions in Verden, Germany. At the 1998 Fall Elite auction, Winwood, a 3-year-old gelding by him, was selected and imported by Pan Am and World Equestrian Game Gold Medallist Debbie McDonald. He was also the champion of USDF All-Breeds award at First Level in 2000, and Reserve Champion of USDF All-Breeds award at 3rd level in 2001.  In 2003, at e 8, Winwood has started his winning way at Prix St. George and I-1.  He was 4th in the nation to qualify for the USEF Intermediaire-1 Championship held with 2004 Olympic Selection Trial in San Juan Capistrano. Devil His Due

Devil His Due

Devil's Bag X Raise A Cup X Noble Jay

1989-2017

Sire of a our alumni CVL En Fuego sold through our Chateau Vista Show Jumpers program

Devil His Due...

Devil His Due (April 18, 1989 – May 22, 2017) was a multimillionaire American Thoroughbred racehorse and successful sire. Bred in Kentucky by Peter E. Blum and raced under the Blue Ribbon Farm banner, he had a record of 41: 11-12-3 with career earnings of $3,920,405.[1] At the time of his retirement, he was fourth on the all-time career earnings list. Devil His Due was best known for his three races in the grade one Pimlico Special (1 win and 2 seconds) and his two wins in the grade one Suburban Handicap.[1] He was registered as a dark bay colt; but was later classified as a "true black."

Devil His Due was a late-developing colt and did not race as a two-year-old. As a three-year-old, he started in 15 races. His marquee wins both came at Aqueduct Racetrack when he won both of New York's top Triple Crown prep races. Devil His Due won the $500,000 Grade I Wood Memorial Stakes at nine furlongs on the dirt. Prior to the Wood win, he finished in a dead heat with Lure in the $250,000 Grade II Gotham Stakes. He also finished eleventh in the Kentucky Derby way behind winner Lil E. Tee. Later that summer, he placed third in the Grade II Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga Race Course as a prep race for the $1,000,000 Grade I Travers Stakes. In that race, Devil His Due ran second to Thunder Rumble. He finished the year with a record of (15): 4-2-1 and earnings of $688,365.

At age four, Devil His Due posted perhaps the best year of his career when he raced eleven times and won three Grade I and one Grade II stake races. His record was four wins, two seconds, and two thirds in eleven races for earnings of $1,939,120.[2] In the Pimlico Special, he was a slight favorite at 1.3 to 1 over the prior year's Derby winner, Strike the Gold, at 1.7 to 1. That year, the country's top racetracks, owners, and breeders established a series of seven handicap races for older horses to showcase the industry's top division and called it the American Championship Racing Series or A.C.R.S. The Pimlico Special was the capstone of that series. As they broke from the gate and passed the stands for the first time, Ibex took the lead by a length over Pistols and Roses while Devil His Due trailed two lengths behind him. Jockey Herb McCauley kept Devil His Due in a stalking position of third throughout the first mile. On the far turn, Valley Crossings passed everyone to lead. Devil His Due and Pistols and Roses made a charge at the leader, but only the former got by. Devil His Due finished the race in 1:55.2 on a track listed as fast. Valley Crossing finished second, and Pistols and Roses finished third. Derby winner Strike the Gold was never a factor and finished sixth. That win in the Grade I $600,000 Special was the largest of Devil His Due's career. He received a $150,000 bonus for winning the ACRS series (after four races). Devil His Due also won the $400,000 Grade I Gulfstream Park Handicap at ten furlongs at Gulfstream Park and the $300,000 Grade I Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park that year. In other races at age four, he won the Grade II Excelsior Handicap, was second in the Grade I Woodward Stakes, finished second in the Grade I Philip H. Iselin Handicap, and ran third in the Grade I Whitney Handicap.

Devil His Due won three graded stakes races, placed in six more, and showed in another in twelve races for annual earnings of $1,142,000. At age five, he repeated his win in the prestigious grade one Suburban Handicap and won the grade two Brooklyn Handicap, both at Belmont Park. He also won the grade three Broward Handicap at Gulfstream Park in 1994. His runner-up placings were seconds in the grade one Jockey Club Gold Cup, the grade one Oaklawn Handicap, the grade one Pimlico Special, the grade one Woodward Stakes, the grade one Whitney Handicap, and the grade one NYRA Mile Handicap. In addition, he was third in the grade one Metropolitan Handicap. As a six-year-old, Devil His Due was in the twilight of his career and raced only three times between February and May 1995. In his last year of racing, he placed second in the $110,000 Grade III Westchester Handicap at Aqueduct Racetrack. In his next start, he finished off the board. His trainer and owner then ran him against that decade's super horse, Cigar, in the Pimlico Special. Cigar won by two and 1/4 lengths. Devil His Due earned $120,000 for his second-place performance. In the process, he set a career earnings record that still stands for "Special" runners at $900,000. One of Devil His Due's claims to fame is that in an era of vast Lasix and steroid use, he ran drug-free in 41 starts for a total of over 44 miles of racing.

Devil His Due stood at Margaux Farm, LLC in Midway, Kentucky. As a sire, he was considered a success, as his progeny earned over $35 million. Some of his prominent offspring included: grade one winner Roses in May who earned $5,480,187; graded stakes winner Spite The Devil with earnings of $849,512; grade two-winning filly She's a Devil Due with earnings of $533,820; Devil Time with earnings of $490,351; Hostility with earnings of $401,829; and in 2008, multiple stakes winner Stop a Train with earnings of $482,084. He was pensioned following the 2013 season. Devil His Due was euthanized on May 22, 2017 due to the infirmities of old age, at the age of 28. "Devil His Due was a truly great horse," Hardy said. "He was the type of racehorse that anyone would want to own or breed. His soundness and resilience on the track was matched only by the tenacity that he instilled in his offspring. He will be missed by all here at the farm."
